To Voip or not to Voip ?
In spite the fact that new technology is kind of expensive, it seems to make anything that depends on it a lot cheaper. And most of the those things are communication related.
Since the Internet has kicked in new cheaper ways of communication have appeared…and , at least the youth are starting to replace the classic ways of communication with Internet-based solutions.
For example, the classic medieval mail has almost totally been replaced with the e-mail, the all day face to face dialogs have been replaced with instant messengering, and now , even the classic phone is replaced by VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol).
I had realized that you can see more and more VoIP related articles on the web … so it must be a sign that it is worth it. In most of the VoIP articles that I read I’ve found pricing lists that look a lot better than the ones from the classic phone service providers.
I am not a VoIP user yet , but all this articles about VoIP are making me think about it as a convenient possible solution to the big phone bills.
VoIP has just started the the fight to conquer the voice based communication system, but it looks like it has a big chance to do what e-mail has done with the classic mail service.
My big hope is that in a short time, instead of a mobile phone signal we will have an wireless Internet signal in most parts of the world. I say this because in the modern society people are always on the run, so they need mobility. And the only chance that VoIP is going to dethrone the classic telephony service is if mobile phones will be based on a highspeed Internet connection too.
Let’ hope that if we spend so much money on technology, at least we’ll save some by the smaller cost of communication services.
